Lackawanna County selects paper ballots... and needs your help!

Lackawanna County Commissioners selected an optical-scan voting system that uses paper ballots from Election Systems & Software. Based on our analysis, Lackawanna County made the RIGHT choice.

We believe fairness and accuracy are the most important criteria. This is where electronic devices can fail or can be perceived to fail. You can recount paper ballots, you can not recount bytes in the computer.

The key, no matter what the voting system, is the process and people. This requires full and well trained staffing at the polling places.

The Lackawanna County Board of Elections is seeking individuals to fill poll-worker vacancies in various voting districts for the April 22 primary election. The judge of elections is paid $145; other election officers receive $105. To apply or for more information, contact the Voter Registration Office at 963-6737.

Please see more information from county, including a video demostration of the new procedure... Click here to go to County Voting information.
